Welcome to Westside Notes
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Lao Tzu Welcome to the first issue of Westside Notes, one way for me to keep in touch with all of you. As I prepared this ezine, it became clear that I want it be user-friendly and relevant to my readers. Because we all receive way too much email as it is, I plan to start off with a Spring and Fall issue with possible quarterly issues beginning in 2008 as it takes shape. Here's a brief update on my recent whereabouts. Coaching now fills almost 50 percent of my time and energy alongside my therapy practice which I've been enjoying more than ever. My coaching projects have been growing each year and I'm very optimistic that my Recovery Coaching workbook will be taking off in 2007. On the therapy side, I continue to enjoy the teamwork of having two associates in my practice, and I'm now in the second year of a 3-year Somatic Experiencing training which focuses on healing trauma. Without going into detail, it has transformed the way I work as a therapist not to mention the tremendous benefits I've personally experienced. Private Practice Psychotherapy Associate Position Beginning Summer 2007 Seeking
unlicensed therapist (MSW or MFT intern) with background in addictions,
bereavement, and teens. Visit www.westsidetherapist.com for more
information.
Links & Resources As I mentioned, my greatest intention of this newsletter is to share useful resources and relevant articles of interest. Many of us accumulate resources but don't always have an easy way to share them. So I'll be using this forum to do just that. Below are the articles and resources in this issue: 12 Step & Self-Help Groups: A
recently-updated listing of contact information for most fellowships--a
terrific resource for clients and colleagues. (Full-size version and
"pocket version")
Articles of Interest When is the Right Time to Go into Therapy? John
Chebultz, M.A. discusses the questions people often have about
therapy-and how the discounting of painful feelings can keep people
from getting help they deserve.
Is Coaching Really Just Therapy? Many
colleagues and prospective clients contact Andrew with lots of
questions about the differences between the two approaches. This
article addresses these questions from his perspective as a
psychotherapist and a coach.

you would rather not receive future mailings, simply click on the

other ways. In the meantime, I'm grateful to have all of you as part of
my community and I do hope you're well. Take good care and enjoy the
rest of your Spring.
